About the Project
The Bus Garage Reconstruction Project is a large-scale infrastructure development located in Washington, D.C. Spanning an area of 1,000,000 sq. meters, this facility is designed to support the daily operations, maintenance, and storage of a high-capacity public transit fleet. The project plays a key role in improving transportation services and ensuring long-term operational efficiency for the region’s transit system.
This ongoing project requires precise design coordination, accurate documentation, and detailed modeling due to its size and complexity. The use of BIM at LOD 350 helps capture essential system components, layout accuracy, and construction-level information. The scope includes architectural layouts, structural framing, and MEP systems, all integrated into a single federated model for better control and execution.

What Did MaRS Do
MaRS BIM Solutions supported the project with advanced BIM modeling, coordination, and drafting services. We focused on improving design accuracy and reducing construction risks. Our team worked closely with engineers and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
We developed detailed 3D models in Revit for architecture, structure, and MEP. The models included accurate system routing, equipment placement, and essential construction elements.
Using Navisworks, we identified and resolved clashes between different building systems. This reduced on-site errors and improved coordination between design and construction teams.
We used AutoCAD to prepare technical drawings, layouts, and sections. These documents supported permit submissions, site execution, and communication with field teams.
The Results
MaRS BIM Solutions helped improve project coordination, reduce design errors, and support faster decision-making. Our BIM support streamlined communication between teams and contributed to steady progress on this complex infrastructure project.
