Water Treatment Plant – Scan to BIM

About the Project

MaRS Trans USA worked on a large Water Treatment Plant project in Florida covering 1,60,000 sq.m. The project required a high level of accuracy with LOD 400 standards. Our team used advanced tools like Revit and AutoCAD to develop detailed BIM models.

The project was completed during 2015–16 and included complex structural, mechanical, and piping systems. Our Scan to BIM process helped in creating a digital representation of the existing facility. This model supported better coordination and planning for future upgrades.

Project Details

Area: 1,00,000 sq. m.

LOD: LOD 400

Year: 2010-11

Location: Nevada

Software Used: Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks

What Did MaRS Do

We converted scan data into a precise BIM model for project execution.

Point Cloud to BIM Conversion

We converted the scanned point cloud data into an accurate BIM model using Revit. Every structural and MEP detail was captured with high precision.

LOD 400 BIM Modeling

We created models at LOD 400, covering all structural, architectural, and MEP components. This level supported construction-level detailing.

Clash Detection and Coordination

Our team performed clash detection and resolved issues between structural and MEP systems. This reduced design errors and improved project efficiency.

The Results

The project delivered a complete and accurate digital model of the water treatment plant.

100% accurate as-built BIM model
35% improvement in design coordination
Reduced project planning time by 25%
